We are pleased to present ‘Tipperary Glove Factories Remembered’. This film documentary traces the gloving industry in Tipperary Town from its beginning in the early 1900’s to the 1970’s. The film is a tribute to the men & women who worked in this industry, especially those working from home (doing piece work, ie. paid according to their output). The film was launched in front of a packed audience at Tipperary Excel this evening and was complemented by an exhibition featuring memorabilia salvaged from the last remaining glove factory at James Street.
Special Thanks to Producer Mary Alice O’Connor, Dr. Denis G Marnane & Elaine Fitzpatrick for their tremendous input and to Director Jim Keane along with the cast and crew. There are so many people involved in the making of this film, it was a splendid work of collaboration leading to this wonderful tribute honouring our Industrial Heritage.
A ‘Heartfelt thanks to one and all.
‘History is not the past , but a map of the past, drawn from a particular point of view, to be useful to the modern traveller ‘
