Tipperary Courthouse and Bridewell to get a new lease of life

Proposals to repurpose and fully restore Tipperary Courthouse & Bridewell have been welcomed in Tipperary Town, with MooreHaven set to become the new custodians of the historic buildings. An architect led design team is currently working on plans that will see the Courthouse & Bridewell campus repurposed as a hub for adults with intellectual disabilities, bringing a long vacant building back into everyday use. The project is a partnership between MooreHaven, Tipperary County Council and Tipperary Town Revitalisation.

Tipperary Glove Factories Remembered

We are pleased to present ‘Tipperary Glove Factories Remembered’. This film documentary traces the gloving industry in Tipperary Town from its beginning in the early 1900’s to the 1970’s. The film is a tribute to the men & women who worked in this industry, especially those working from home (doing piece work, ie. paid according to their output). The film was launched in front of a packed audience at Tipperary Excel this evening and was complemented by an exhibition featuring memorabilia salvaged from the last remaining glove factory at James Street.
